Collaborative Law
Peace-Making offers Collaborative Law that maximizes legal safety by having each party represented.

Everyone agrees contractually to “no trial”, you get help each step of the way and you don’t risk the expense of going to trial. The process, however, is twice the expense of mediation because there is at least twice the lawyer time involved.

To begin collaborative law, each party must hire a specially trained lawyer. Because both attorneys understand the “community standard of fairness”, they can help each other and both parties find the narrow range in which fairness occurs.

Some elements of Collaborative Law:

Be represented but avoid trial
Help your spouse find and hire a specially trained Collaborative Lawyer
Agree to resolve all issues without court or trial
Work together as a team to create agreement on a court order

Contact us today and learn how Peace-Making’s Collaborative Law can help you in the most important areas of your life.

Definitions:

Collaborative Attorney: A family law attorney specially trained in a co-mediation process called Collaborative Law.

Collaborative Law or Collaborative Law Divorce: an Alternative Dispute Resolution process in which both parties are represented by family law attorneys who have specially trained in the Collaborative Law Process. By contract, both parties and both attorneys agree that neither party will use the court until all issues are resolved by agreement. This assures a type of co-mediation settlement process with both parties being assisted every step of the way.

Peace-Making Mediation: a unique process created by Peace-Making to resolve emotions; especially useful in creating working partnerships for co-parenting.

Collaborative Law Contract: the agreement that oversees collaboration.

Divorce Mediator: a family law attorney trained in divorce mediation.

“My divorce was the worst time of my life.  Steve Smith not only gave me personal support through the process, he also helped me with a different positive outlook on life.”
